Alex Cove

How long have you lived in your space ?

I have lived here for just over two years.

What do you do? Or what industry are you in?

I manage a boutique hotel.

What makes this space “home?”

It feels warm and alive at all times - I display framed photos in all corners and always keep lamps on and music playing.

What are 3 things in your apartment that you can’t live without?

A Christmas china set from when I was young, all of my family photos, and Kitty Minky, my little black cat.

What room do you spend the most time in? Why?

I spend my downtime in the living room. It’s filled with light in the morning, and becomes a cozy den in the evenings.

Favorite neighborhood spots?

The Nickey Kehoe store and Larchmont Wine and Cheese.

Favorite piece of furniture? Why?

My robins egg blue HD Buttercup slipcover sofa. To me, it’s timeless.

What do you love about living in a historic building?

Craftsmanship. The cove ceilings, the built ins, the tile work - they are special details.

What do you love about living in Los Angeles?

It always feels like a spring day.

Where do you find inspiration?

The history and charm of the Northeast. I’m from Pennsylvania, and whenever I’m home I love browsing Lancaster or New Hope. My aunt is a principal architect and interior designer in Philadelphia, and growing up around her work had a huge influence on my taste—one that still shapes how I see spaces today.

Anything you’re working on? Anything else you want to share please do!

In my downtime, I make jewelry using cultured freshwater pearls. I’ve always loved pearls—they feel antiqued yet fresh at the same time, which is also how I’d describe my interior design style. I’m hoping to make more and share more of that work in the new year.
