the way you live is a work of art

CASSIE LEVINE

“The light. The ability to hear my own thoughts. The fact that when you hang out with someone it’s intentional because you usually have to travel to see them. The flowers. The access to the ocean and the pockets of neighborhoods that all feel like different towns within one city. And the fact that the city is a hub for artists and creative people. Couldn’t live without that.“

CANDY VALENTINE/EDITION CF

“I love the ancestral connection and being one of a long lineage of potters experimenting with clay. Every piece has its own personal story and my work is about memory as much as an object to live with.”

NICK BIDDLE

“The work I make stems from observations of nature. Particularly me trying to recall an event or feeling within nature. These can stem from small color combinations in botanicals to larger astrological events. I am trying to bring that feeling to the viewer in a simplistic way, primarily with plastics and pigments.“

SAKO + BRITTANY

“The homes and buildings that were built in the 20s and 30s in LA were something special. To be able to live in one from that era that holds its character still makes it a home for us. You don’t really need to decorate too much, because of all the character!”

KENDAL CHANDLER

“I find inspiration in the most everyday things. I think that's the beauty of LA is there is so much inspiration all around you.”

GIA CANALI

“I think LA is the place to be to make (art) work right now. There's so much good work available to see here, every single weekend..Plus: we believe things are possible here in LA, and that is practically magic in an art practice. There are so many artists working in varied and inventive ways, from so many diverse creative and cultural backgrounds, and we are constantly giving each other permission to try new things, move in new directions. And that is also magic.”

CHURCH BOUTIQUE

“We both have worked in Fashion for over 50 years combined. When we opened Church in 2009 we wanted to combine Fashion with Art, Decor, Furnishings, etc.”

TREVOR GARCIA

”My first ever studio apartment, it was so fun to create a layout in my head of how the space would function in the most effective way possible. A bit of a challenge, but so worth it!”

NICOLE + NIKOLAI

“We have designed and made almost everything in [our home]. It’s been a labor of love over the years and we keep continuing to make changes to the space. It has become such a reflection of us and feels so personal.“

LAUREN WATERS

"I love the charm and character, the high ceilings, dental crown molding, and the building quality is substantial and lasting unlike new builds. I’ve always felt transported to another city when I look out at the ivy covered courtyard.”

SAMANTHA D'AMBOLA

"The character and the history here are by far my favorite parts. You can't walk into a building like this and not wonder about who lived here in the past and what they got up to.”

D'ARA NAZARYAN | ARIS

"The purpose wasn't the final product as much as it was to tap back into myself as a creative person. What in the end held true was the point to experience this child like joy of getting lost in creation.”
