Sako + Brittany Adajian
How long have you lived in your space?
5 months! We moved in at the start of 2024 (after nearly 6 months of looking for the perfect place for us). We love what happened, architecturally, in LA in the 20s and 30s.
What do you do?
Sako: I am the Chief Marketing Officer for a legal recruiting agency called Whistler Partners!
Brittany: I am in charge of Operations for an LA-basedarchitecture firm!
What makes this space “home?”
Sako & Brittany: The space is incredibly inviting the second you walk in. The windows (I remember first walking in and thinking holy sh*t look at how bright it is in here!), the creaking floor just give it that “home” feel. The homes and buildings that were built in the 20s and 30s in LA were something special. To be able to live in one from that era that holds its character still makes it a home for us. You don’t really need to decorate too much, because of all the character!
When looking at spaces to live what made this place stand out from the rest?
S & B: Where to start…we are suckers for history! We are also obsessed with famous architects, in particular architects that shaped LA in the 20s and 30s. The architect who designed our building, Leland A. Bryant, is also responsible for the Sunset Tower Hotel and a few other notable buildings in LA. It checked every box before we even saw the actual unit. After seeing the unit, it was a no-brainer.
What are 3 things in your apartment that you can’t live without?
S & B: Our cat, Frida Kahtlo, our espresso machine(with a bag of beans from Maru) and our couches!
• What room do you spend the most time in?
Why?
S & B: The living room without a doubt! The open space, and the 9 almost floor to ceiling windows make it hard to leave sometimes.
Favorite neighborhood spots?
S & B: You can catch us at Larchmont Village often, either getting a bagel at Sam’s Bagel or a coffee and breakfast at Go Get Em Tiger. We love living here because we can actually walk to get food and drinks. And it may not be directly in the neighborhood, but our favorite place to eat right now is Clark Street Diner on Franklin! Oh, and when we are not eating, you can catch us at
Center for Yoga or Dr Pilates also on Larchmont!
Favorite piece of furniture? Why?
S & B: Does our espresso machine count as furniture?
We seriously can’t live without it!
What do you love about living in a historic building?
S & B: Exactly that…the history! These buildings weren’t just built to help with a growing LA population. Thought was put into it and every detail was considered. That’s why they are still standing nearly 100 years later. The homes and buildings built in the 20s in LA make this city so special. I wish more of them were still standing.
• What do you love about living in Los Angeles?
Every time I get this question my first thought is, “what’s LA missing?” and the answer is honestly, nothing. LA is so diverse and offers everything for everyone. We’re both born and raised in LA. Although Brittany did bounce around a little bit and I kind of stayed close to where I grew up my entire life (hard to beat this location in LA). LA is home and we love being native Angelinos.
Where do you find inspiration?
Architecture, travel, and the many unique food options that LA offers. LA has inspiration all over!
Anything you’re working on?
Anything else you want to share please do!
We have a few things pending in the latter part of 2024 that you’ll have to wait and see, but many big changes coming for us, and we are excited about each and every part of it!
