How long have you lived in your space?
I’m going on four years this spring.
What do you do? Or what industry are you in?
I’m an art advisor and curator. I work in fine art and help clients source artwork for their spaces.
What makes this space “home”?
My home is my safe space. It’s where I unwind at the end of the day, host friends and family, and be creative. It feels like home because it’s where I can truly be myself.
What are three things in your apartment that you can’t live without?
1. My dog, Lemmy; 2. my art collection—it’s so personal and something I’ve built over the years; and 3. my sauna bag. One day I hope to have a real sauna, but for now, to get that self-care in, I love my sauna bag.
What room do you spend the most time in? Why?
Definitely my living room. I work from home, so it serves as both my office and living room. When I wake up in the morning, I like to drink my matcha on the couch and have a slower start to the day. I love the morning light I get, and it feels so spacious.
Favorite neighborhood spots?
I love Neighborhood coffee shop for morning matcha. I love Yuko Kitchen for a yummy and easy lunch. During the summer, I like to walk to LACMA and go to Friday jazz nights. I also love Escuela Taqueria and sitting on their outdoor patio in the summer. And Teroni’s has the best Aperol Spritz—all conveniently within walking distance from me. I love my neighborhood because it’s incredibly walkable, and you can have all your basic needs met within a short walk in any direction.
Favorite piece of furniture? Why?
My couch! I found it on Facebook Marketplace and fell in love with the modular style and the butter-yellow velvet suede. The tag underneath says it was made in the ’70s in Pittsburgh, but I got it for a steal.
What do you love about living in a historic building?
I love the charm. I can’t imagine living in a new build. I love my fireplace, the little built-in nooks in my dining room, and the colorful tile in my bathroom. So many of these historic building units are really spacious, and I love not feeling crammed into a small space. I have plenty of storage and comfort, while also enjoying beautiful original wood floors.
What do you love about living in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles is the city that people love to hate. Personally, I love it. I find it incredibly inspiring, and so many neighborhoods are charming. The food, art, fashion, music, and film scenes are all amazing. And it’s really about finding the people and places you love.
Where do you find inspiration?
I’m very into print. We spend so much of our lives on our phones—myself included, but getting my monthly magazines in the mail is truly a slice of escape. I love reading all the articles, ripping out my favorite photos, and using them as literal sources of inspiration.
Anything you’re working on? Anything else you want to share?
I recently started a Substack where I share all things related to being an art advisor and curator. I talk about how to collect art, art trends, how to budget for art, and overall inspiration. The fine art world can be very gatekeeping, so I wanted a space where I could share my knowledge and welcome anyone who’s interested.
