GLB: What industry are you in? 

Kristen: I work in Film/TV Development & Production. 

I'm also passionate about independent documentary filmmaking and social impact work. The most recent project I helped collaborate on is titled BETWEEN THE RAINS. Filmed with an incredible team and over the course of four consecutive years during record low annual precipitation in northern Kenya, it is a feature collaboration with the Turkana-Ngaremara community that seeks to understand the experiences of a childhood caught within a traditional culture that is a casualty of climate change. GLB: What makes this space “home?” 

Kristen: Drawing inspiration from wildlife in the African bushveld and the grace of the English countryside, I've brought "home" to me. I was born and raised in South Africa, and lived in London for my formative childhood years. At 18, I moved to Los Angeles to play tennis in college, and ended up falling in love with filmmaking along the way...so I decided to stay in the best city for that. Being so far away from where I grew up, I've made a conscious effort to curate this space by combining all the elements that I love the most about each home I've had.

GLB: What are 3 things in your apartment that you can’t live without?

Kristen:

1) My antique classroom map of Africa - it's the first thing guests comment on, and it inevitably leads to a conversation over dinner about a family safari they took years ago, a bucket list trip they want to take one day, or a childhood memory of mine.

2) The 1930s historic Beverly Hills fireplace mantel - I'm constantly redecorating this space with new books, drawings, and plants. It's the perfect creative canvas. 

3) The Frame TV - not only great for movie nights with friends... but I can shamelessly spotlight my favourite wildlife photography shots during the day. :)

GLB: What room do you spend the most time in? Why?

Kristen: My bedroom – I love to open up the French windows on the weekends and dig into scripts in my reading nook. 

GLB: What are your favorite neighborhood spots? 

Kristen: Nate n Als for brekkie with friends after a late night, Great White for an Aussie coffee in the afternoon, and Holloway House for live music and cocktails.
